How It Works

A lot of people think about getting their garden properly designed for years before they actually take the first step, often because they're not quite sure what's involved or what it will cost. Here's exactly what the process looks like when you work with me.

Step 1: A Free First Visit

I'll come to you, at no charge and with no obligation. I'll spend as long as it takes to understand your section, your ideas, and what you want the garden to do for you. A peaceful place to retreat to, a practical family space, a productive picking garden, or something else entirely. There's no rush to that conversation.

Step 2: Design Concepts

Within 20 working days, I'll have put together two design concepts for your garden, each with a 3D walkthrough video so you can genuinely picture the result. I'll present these to you in person, talk through the options, and help you work out which direction feels right. This is invoiced at $490 at that meeting.

Step 3: The Master Plan

Once you've decided on a direction, I'll develop it into a full master plan, complete with drawings, a 3D video of the finished design, and a plant list. This takes another 20 working days, after which we'll meet again to go through everything and make sure you're happy with it. This stage is also $490.

Step 4: Making It Happen

From here it really is up to you. Some clients take the master plan and create the garden themselves. Others ask me to manage the contractors, source the plants, and see the whole project through to completion, which I charge at $80 per hour. There's no pressure to take the full service if you don't need it, and you can step in or out of the process at any point.
